"Social Security 101"

Kirk Larson, Western Washington Public Affairs Specialist for the Social Security Administration, will present the workshop "Social Security 101: Everything You Wanted to Know" on February 1. The material will include:

  • Retirement benefits and eligibility requirements
  • What early retirement does to your benefits
  • How survivor benefits can help your family
  • Information regarding Medicare, disability, and spouse benefits
  • What you can do online with SSA
  • What the future holds for SSA
  • Understanding how to get the most from your benefit

Mr. Larson has worked with the SSA for over 19 years in both technical and managerial roles. He has had numerous articles published and has appeared on TV and radio shows to discuss various Social Security issues. The SSA and other federal organizations have recognized him for his outstanding public service.

City of Bellevue Offering CLE on

"Negotiaton and Conflict Management"

 

Bellevue Mediation ProgramThe City of Bellevue Mediation Program is offering "Negotiation and Conflict Management: Everything They Never Taught You in Law School But You Need to Know" from January 18-25 at Bellevue City Hall. The 24-hour course has been approved for 18.5 CLE credits. Presenters will be Program co-managers Andrew Kidde, JD, and Cheryl Cohen, LICSW, CEAP.  Topics will include communication skills to de-escalate tensions, identifying the "zone of agreement" in money negotiations, crafting creative solutions to nuisance disputes, managing cases when values and emotions are a big issue, and understanding how culture and gender influence negotiation style.
